We were delighted to partner with Lurgan Churches Outreach Group to hold a special event to reflect on 1916.
Rev Dr Johnston McMaster spoke on the theme 'Protestants and 1916 - For and Against'. The purpose was to reflect on how Protestants viewed 1916 at that time.
An ordained minister in the Methodist Church in Ireland, Johnston McMaster was a lecturer and co-ordinator of the Irish School of Ecumenics’ adult education programme, Education for Reconciliation.
He is now an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Irish School of Ecumenics and is also working with the Junction in Derry/Londonderry on its project on ‘Ethical and Shared Remembering'.
The event was open to the public and over 50 people attended. It was held on 15 June in The Jethro Centre, Lurgan.
